During the national holidays, the wine which is an intrinsic accompaniment to the celebration is consumed Wine Cabernet Sauvignon, Gracia de Chile. Rapel Valley.Wine Cabernet Sauvignon, Gracia de Chile. Rapel Valley.abundantly by Chileans, particularly red wine. For this reason, large supermarkets tend to put up their prices and put out products which are not always the best quality. It’s easy to be taken in when paying more in a supermarket, thinking that we are buying a good wine. This is often not the fault of the vineyards, since the wines have a hard time on the journey, waiting in inappropriate warehouses, travelling again and then waiting on the shelves for the consumer, suffering the glare of the lights and the poor music, interrupted by the ads telling you “you need this or that”; all in all, it is easy to buy something which later you regret. In conclusion, if you buy wine in a supermarket, buy a cheap one and try to understand why it has the price it has…..you’ve been warned.

I was invited to a barbecue on the 18th September in the central coastal region. I had to take something with me and on the way I bought this Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage Wine from Vina Gracia, Chile 2006 from a supermarket. I paid about $3.200 [Chilean pesos]. The price is understandable, since it should be kept for several more years in order to be appreciated fully. When a vintage wine is still young, the best thing to do is to uncork it and leave it open for it to “air”; in this way, the wild tannins which still don’t know which way to go, can be dispersed. Leaving it open for a couple of hours, or a day if possible, means that you get an excellent fruity wine, at an excellent price. When I got into the car, I uncorked the bottle, I swilled it round, and I put the cork in again before I set off. I didn’t taste a drop as you can imagine.   […]»

Cabernet Sauvignon, J. Bouchon Chicureo, Vintage 2005.

J. Bouchon Vineyard Presentation:
Chilean wine Cabernet Sauvignon, J. Bouchon Chicureo, Vintage 2005. Maule Valley, Chile. Bouchon is a family vineyard created in 1892. The cellar and vineyards are located in the Maule Valley with a total of 370 hectares. Our grapes are harvested and selected by hand. The combination of old vines, the care taken of the vineyards and a good handling at the cellar enables us to obtain this excellent wine†.

SurVino:
This is a sober wine. Its most notable feature is its attractive cherry colour (ruby red). Its bouquet has little to offer, a slight sense of acid fruits (plum and blackcurrents). It is very dry on the palate, without a balance of other flavours which could have been given by the wood and the tannins. It is very good to accompany roasted meats, if the food and cost savings are what matters; it won’t stand out, but it won’t ruin anything either.

Don Matias Cabernet Sauvigon, Vineyard Cousino-Macul, Vintage 2005.

Cousino–Macul Vineyard description:
Don Matias Cabernet Sauvigon, Vineyard Cousino-Macul, Vintage 2005. Maipo Valley. “This wine was created in 1968 in honour of Matias Cousino, our founder. Initially it was matured in 1800 litre oak barrels for 2 years, with grapes harvested from the Macul vineyards. Today it is a blended wine with grapes harvested from the Buin vineyards where the Cabernet Sauvignon brings the character, the Merlot its delicacy and the maturing in French holm oak barrels brings the complexity. It has an expressive bouquet where the strawberry and the smooth toasted flavour of the wood are blended so that on the palate it tastes fresh, flavourful and full of nuances. Without doubt a new concept which will remind us very well of our founder in the renewed times of Cousinoo Macul while looking ahead to the next 150 years”

SurVino:
Without a doubt, this classic of Chilean viticulture makes a bid to stand out in a market full of Cabernet Sauvignon, which with few exceptions leaves us some surprises in among its already famous virtues. The vineyards located in Macul are mainly reserved for the production of “Antiguas Reservas”, for which reason we find a new wine with 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 60% from the Buin vineyards, 40% from the traditional Macul vineyards, and making up the blend 15% of Merlot.
The result is a less bodied wine, smooth and complex on the palate.
